SAFETY FIRST INITIATIVE
Our vision is to initially place one instructor in each of the fifty states, detemining the priority of placement by the severity of the gun injuries and fatalities surrounding primary school aged children (3-9) in each state.
Eventually we would like to place one instructor in each school district across the United States so that exposure to the program can be repeated at least twice during the primary school years for each student in the United States.
The National Rifle Association has developed a curriculum which teaches children what to do when they come upon a gun. The steps the children are taught are (1) STOP, (2) DON'T TOUCH, (3) LEAVE THE AREA, and (4) TELL AN ADULT.
The curriculum uses workbooks, reward stickers, song and dance, and a costumed character: Eddie Eagle.
An overview of the program is here.
