Dress Up Days
(third Wednesday of each month)

Uniforms rules will be relaxed on the third Wednesday each month to allow for the creative expression of students' dress as related to certain themes:

September In celebration of Johnny Appleseed the students will be encouraged to dress as a naturalist or their favorite item from nature.

October: In celebration of Halloween the students will be encouraged to dress as their favorite literary character (fiction or non-fiction).

November: In celebration of the Thanksgiving Holiday students will be encouraged to either dress as their favorite character from the first Thanksgiving or to dress as the inventor of something they are very thankful for.  In conjunction with this the students will either bring in or make something to give to another student in a disadvantaged school district – a wish list will be provided.

December: In celebration of the Winter Holiday season students will be encouraged to dress as their favorite symbol of this season.

January: In celebration of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday students will be encouraged to dress as their favorite black history person, invention created by a black American, or somehow represent an important event in history related to black Americans.

February: In celebration of President's Day students will be encouraged to dress as their favorite president or wear paraphernalia from a campaign of a presidential candidate.

March: In honor of the first day of spring, students will be encouraged to dress up as their favorite sign of spring.

April: In honor of all the new life sprouting around them, students will be encouraged to dress up as their favorite baby animal.  In conjunction with this the students will either bring in something for a baby layette or from the wish list for the Pregnancy Distress Center.

May – In honor of the approaching end of school year, students will be encourages to dress up as their favorite invention, character, or idea of the future.
