Earth Week Parade and Presentation
(last week in April)

During the last week in April the entire school takes on an Earth Week atmosphere.  Each classroom makes a “float” to travel in a parade that begins in the school parking lot, travels through the local neighborhood and returns to the school parking lot.  Each float can only be made from recyclable materials.  Each float must have a theme related to the environment.  Local EPA officials will be invited to judge the floats for biggest impact, most creative, delivers the message categories.  After the parade a representative from each grade will give a speech related to the environment.  The various classes and grades within the school will hold speech contests to determine who gets to speak after the parade.  Students will create punch, cookies, and other “environmentally friendly” food to be served.  The community is invited to attend and other schools are invited to send floats.  If classes want to do drama presentations or other creative expressions of their understanding on the environment this is all acceptable.
