Teacher Potpourri
(first Wednesday of each month)
The Academy's faculty is a very talented group of people. Teaching in a specialty area does not allow for the Educators to show to students their other accomplishments. Teacher Potpourri days are set up for this reason.
Four times a year Educators will abandon their lesson plans to teach outside of their specialty. These topics will be approved through the office but can be most easily described as hobbies or items of interest to the Educator. They may include topics similar to the following list: Needlepoint, calligraphy, wood working, stamp collecting, instruments, mimes, dance, juggling, print making, photography, and magic.
This list is not exhaustive but only represents possible subject areas where the Educators may choose to teach for that day. Educators will present their "trade" at a level consistent with the level of the students in the class and will present this particular topic all day in all classes they teach as the students rotate through the system in four 90 minute blocks to allow the students to learn the skill as well.
Students will be allowed to choose which presentations they wish to attend throughout the day, and may repeat as desired.
