Grandparents' Week
(last week in October)
The last week in October is Grandparents' week. Invitations will be prepared by the students and mailed from the Academy to all Grandparents (in the case of deceased, absent, or otherwise unavailable grandparents a significant family friend designated by the family will receive the invitation). RSVPs will be received in the office. The student will be called to the office to open the response and record the RSVP in the Grandparents' log. The Academy will make preparations as follows:
- Name tags for each participant
- Their name and student on a marquee in the foyer
- An assembly during homeroom period
- Reserved seating at lunchtime
- Private meeting with Director
- A showcase of their grandchild’s accomplishments (portfolio)
- Student-led conference with their grandparent
After the morning assembly the grandparents will follow the student to all of his classes where the grandparents can observe or join in as the grandparents feel comfortable.
